Thanks to INTERPRES project we are going to check the context where this figure works (a context involving at this point health, school, prisons, courts, etc.) in three partner countries, in order to collect and compare the good practices emerged in the latest years, to define both peculiarities and limits of these new professional figures. We are then going to concentrate on a common model layout aiming at a permanent training, able to have also a vocational guidance function towards further professional ways. All that by taking into account the specific demands coming out in the different contexts, as well as the need of including this model into the European system.
INTERPRES
In most EU member-countries the linguistic-cultural mediation gained a more and more cross role within society. Towards this new professional figure, a great effort has been carried out to grant a constant updating but without obtaining neither a law fitting for these people, nor a specific consideration about their possible future work fitting. We must take into consideration the fact that non-native operators working for specific services or sectors are bound to loose their original function of “bridge between two cultures”, as time goes by.
