Aims of the project are:
- To encourage learning of basic skills in the new ICT by the beneficiaries.
- To think, at European level, about new methodologies and their potential to improve the way old people learn and spend their free time and to encourage inter-generational dialogue and recover Historical Memory.
The project revolves around the persons who travel or want to live abroad: through a dynamic and innovative methodology, the person can understand the basics of civic education and the cultural peculiarities of every European country through the pc or television. This is intended for those who immigrate or travel abroad for a short period of time, they need information about: language, culture, how to find a job, how to improve their professional development, information concerning relative documentation, etch. Before leaving for the new country it is important to have all the information before you leave in order to make for a smooth integration.
Demographic downfall differences in the GNP between countries and elimination of barriers within the EU have produced a steady flow of immigrants. It has been unanimously recognised that the adoption of active policies of social inclusion, working and overall integration are indispensable for peaceful, profitable living together and for democracy.
The L-Pack: project focuses on the development of “a pack” of colloquial language learning exercises (L-PACK) for adult migrants in 6 European languages: the three languages of the EU countries that attract the highest number of migrants not speaking the national language German, Italian and Spanish plus three other less widely used and taught languages modern Greek, Czech and Lithuanian.
In most EU member-countries the linguistic-cultural mediation gained a more and more cross role within society. Towards this new professional figure, a great effort has been carried out to grant a constant updating but without obtaining neither a law fitting for these people, nor a specific consideration about their possible future work fitting. We must take into consideration the fact that non-native operators working for specific services or sectors are bound to loose their original function of “bridge between two cultures”, as time goes by.
The project transfers innovative training and train-the trainer courses in employment-finding and employment support skills for personal employment advisors. The training transferred empowers staff in public and NGO services to co-operate across service boundaries in supporting disabled people into work. It provides job-matching and client support skills that can be used alongside the medically-based welfare systems. It respects the limited resources at their disposal.
